A Woman’s Guide to Dealing with Public Harassment
Every single day, millions of females all over the world are dealing with harassment. It’s upsetting to know that a woman cannot proceed with her daily life without being catcalled or harassed in public places.
As a woman, you need to be able to handle these types of situations. Harassment should be faced head on. Don’t let this be a permanent thing in your life. Here are some helpful tips in dealing with public harassment.
Speak up, speak out
The most important thing to do is to call them out on their unacceptable behavior. People who like to harass women especially in public places tend to rely on the fact that their target would be too afraid or embarrassed to speak out. Be brave to speak up regarding their actions especially in public. These types of people need to be taught a lesson on respect.
Ask for help
There is no need for you to deal with harassment alone. You can seek help from the people around you. You can ask your friends to accompany you if they have time or you can also ask for assistance from people with authority like the police or security personnel.
Report harassment
Be an example to women out there who are experiencing the same things as you. Report the person harassing you. Never be afraid to fight for your right to feel safe in your environment. If you have any means of identifying the person harassing you, use that and report it to their employers or even to the authorities.
