Basketball is one of the more popular sports in the world and has been a rising not only in Singapore but also in the whole Asian region. The NBA, considered as the best basketball league in the world, will starting another new season late in October and basketball fans are all excited to see what’s to come especially for the best players of the league. A lot of players have had historical seasons last year and, based on that, we have ranked the ten best players of the NBA.
- Marc Gasol
He is the most versatile center in the league. He can make incredible post moves, step out of the paint to hit midrange jumpers, rebound, make plays for his teammates, and defend at a high level. Not too shabby for the league’s best center.
- Kyrie Irving
The Cavs point guard made it all the way to the NBA Finals only to be sidelined by injury after the first game. Nevertheless, Irving is a player that seeks to dazzle the crowd and the defense with his array of dribbling moves and finishing maneuvers around the rim.
- Blake Griffin
Griffin almost made it into the conference finals if not for a major meltdown. Nevertheless, the dunking forward has grown into a great all-around player especially in the playoffs where he almost averaged a triple-double. His offensive repertoire around the rim and on the post has also increased and has shown improvements in his jump shot.
- Chris Paul
If you want to run a team from the point guard position, there is nobody better than CP3. Arguably nobody is better than Paul in controlling the offense and looking for open teammates. He is also one of the best defensive point guards in the league despite his lack in size.
- Russell Westbrook
The absence of Kevin Durant paved the way for Russ to show the world everything he can do. He led the league in triple-doubles in the regular season and finished as the NBA’s top scorer with almost 29 points per game. Moreover, the fiery guard also almost led a depleted Oklahoma City team into the playoffs despite the tough competition in the West.
- James Harden
The Beard finished behind Westbrook for the scoring championship and almost made it to the NBA championship series. The former Sixth Man of the Year was also voted All-NBA First Team and has shown an overall improvement in every facet of his game whether in scoring explosions, rebounding, playmaking, and even defense (something he has been criticized for in past seasons).
- Anthony Davis
A few years from now, we may see the Brow on the very top of this list. At a very young age, Davis has become the complete package. He entered the league being a defensive gem but has blossomed into an all-around player with a huge improvement in his offensive game. Whether it is by jump shots, posting up, or getting to the basket, Davis can destroy any team singlehandedly while patrolling the paint back in defense to contest and block shots.
- Stephen Curry
He did not win the Most Valuable Player Award and the NBA Championship last season for nothing. Curry, who used to be known only as a shooter, has become arguably one of the league’s best players. Curry is able to create magic when the ball is in his hands as his ability to handle the ball helps him create and put up shots nobody has ever seen before. On top of that, he broke his own record for most three-point shots made in a season.
- Kevin Durant
He did not see much action last year due to injury. Despite that, he is still the most dangerous player in the league. Despite being almost 7 feet tall, he handles the ball like a guard and is able to shoot above defenses with ease or post up smaller defenders. Despite the size, Durant is also cat quick and is able to blow past slower players to score at the rim. If completely healthy, look forward to Durant scoring his way on top of the league once again.
- LeBron James
Make no mistake. LBJ is still the best player in the league today as his all-around game is what separates him from his contemporaries. For a guy standing 6’8” and weighing over 260 lbs., he moves as fast as a freight train and jumps as high as anyone in the league. He is also one of the league’s most gifted passers able to make the toughest assists due to his combination of size and athletic ability. His physical abilities also make him the most versatile defender able to guard all positions as well as make him the most versatile scorers able to score from the outside all the way to the inside.
