Fancy Stargazing? Here are the Best Places to Do It
The vastness of the universe is deep but its beauty continues to leave us in awe. You do not need to look further, just with your naked eye you will see that the stars are simply magical. This may be the case few years back but as modernization took a hit, light pollution became imminent. Light pollution clouded the skies which made stars blurred.
It is not too late though. There are many stargazing fanatics here in Singapore. If you really want to see the stars, there are places that you can go to. These places are far from the city and for sure it will cost you but such a magnificent sight should never be missed. Here are the best spots for stargazing:
Galloway Forest Park
Galloway Forest Park is in Scotland and what a magnificent sight to behold. You have to head to the Southwest part of the park and with 185,000 acre of forest you will see more than seven thousand stars not to mention the distant planets. If you want more learning, you can join lectures conducted by speakers or specialists at the Southern edge of the park.
Cherry Springs State Park
Cherry Springs State Park in Pennsylvania offers a different learning experience. There is something called Black Forest Star Party which is annually celebrated from September 11 to 13. The party brings together myriad of observers for a weekend of stargazing. The park boasts of 82 acre land.
Jasper National Park
If you are already in Alberta, Canada, you should not miss stargazing in Jasper National Park. What makes it more magical is making your way through pine and spruce forests. There is also annual Jasper’s Dark Sky Festival. During the day, there is solar viewings and telescope workshops. If you want to give your children fine experience, why not try camping? There are several camping sites scattered in the preserve plus they are open all the time.
Nova Scotia
Another site in Cana is the Nova Scotia. Nova Scotia may not be as popular as its neighbours like Acadian Skies but it is home to the first certified Starlight hotel in the world – Trout Point Lodge. Nova Scotia was actually the home of Mi’kmaq nation – an indigenous tribe in Canada. Today, you will be treated by an astronomer who will lead the star walks expedition.
You can never see everything at once. If you are serious about stargazing, it is better to travel now or forever hold your passion. Good luck and happy gazing!
