White interiors can be difficult to pull off since they’re more likely to be uncomfortable and nervous than one with warmer colors. But when done right, they don’t have to be. In fact, they can be the most refreshing color you can see in the inside of a home. In fact, if you do choose to decorate your home this way, you’ll be surprised at how much progress you can make by simply keeping these seven tips in mind:

Choose the best shade of white

Yes, white comes in shades – hundreds of them – and they don’t look like beige or gray. You might even need to choose a different shade for different areas of your home depending on other factors, like available natural light and the texture of your walls.

White and metals are a timeless combo

There’s nothing that can go wrong with white and neutral accent colors, and even hues like grays, browns, and blacks make something sophisticated and chic out of something simple. You can also pull off the same result with the use of metals or metallic textures.

Consider other accent colors

Contrast is important, and accent colors are great at highlighting your use of white in your home. The latter also makes it easier for you to make accent colors contrast: anything from red to teal can give any all-white interior a sophisticated feel.

Add more texture

Texture is another way of adding contrast and character for your interior, since it doesn’t have to be all shades of white, off-white, or even accent colors. Adding textures like metal or wood can bring out gradation and depth in designs that would otherwise look monochromatic.

Showcase your art

Artworks are a personal choice, but when it comes to a white space, there are a few considerations you need to take with the art pieces you want to display. For instance, a busy room might benefit more from a single, oversized piece to draw more attention, while rooms that don’t have any impressive features are best complemented by a gallery wall of smaller artworks or photographs.

Strike a balance

What makes white rooms difficult to style is that many homeowners choose to stay with only neutral colors, but the best way to give a bright pop to a white interior is to balance out the base lighter colors and the darker accent colors.

One way to do this is by using the sixty-thirty-ten rule: sixty percent for your primary color base, thirty percent is dedicated for the secondary palette, and ten percent to the most vibrant color, which can be an accent piece or an artwork.
