Some Singapore residents are afraid to undergo health screening procedure because they don’t exactly know the processes they have to undergo. Health screening is a series of examinations that nurses and doctors do to evaluate one’s health.

The screenings can be done at employer offices, health fairs, health clinics, or during a community wellness activity, in addition to a doctor’s office. Though health screenings vary according on the setting and the health screening packages one have purchased, all follow the same screening procedure.

 Answering the Questionnaire

Corporate health screening and other form of screenings starts by requiring the examinee to answer a questionnaire. The questionnaire is about the patient’s lifestyle, exercise, diet, and family history of any disease. Oftentimes called as health risk assessment, doctors and nurses use the result of the questionnaire to help them determine the screening tests needed and the health areas that the doctors needs to focus on.

Taking Measurements

The health professional will take measurements of the height, weight, and blood pressure of the patient. The body mass index (BMI) will also be calculated to assess whether the person is within healthy values.

Interview

The doctor will check the validity of the answers in the questionnaire through interview. She may have to ask the patient more questions for clarifications and further explanations of the answer. This could also be the right time for AsiaMedic health screening packages Singapore examinees to express any complaints and experience unexplainable pain.

Problems like sleep disturbances, shorter stamina, dizziness, nausea, problems with appetite, shortness of breath, and the like should all be reported to the doctor. Being completely honest and vocal of the pains and health experiences will greatly help the professionals in evaluating health conditions accurately.

Screening for Diseases

After the healthcare professional clarified and evaluated a patient’s condition based on the questionnaire and interview, the doctor will then start the screening procedure. The type of screening tests to be done depends on the corporate health screening package provided by an employer for his employees and/or the health screening packages an individual have purchased.

For men, common packages for health screening includes tests for abdominal aortic aneurysm, colorectal cancer, depression, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, HIV, syphilis, overweight and obesity. For women, common health screening packages includes tests for body mineral density, breast cancer, cervical cancer, blood pressure, Chlamydia, cholesterol level, colorectal cancer, diabetes, gonorrhea, HIV, and syphilis.

Schedule Follow-up

After the results have been checked, the doctor will evaluate and identify any tests that need further examination or preparation, such as complete cholesterol panel or fasting glucose tests, and will ask you to come back for another appointment. If the results indicate perfect health condition, most screening follow-up occur during a regular annual checkup.

However, one should keep in mind that screening tests do not cure diseases; they are used to detect and prevent them. Undergoing a series of screening tests will allow every individual to prevent any form of ailment from getting worse by changing the lifestyle and following the guidelines provided by the doctor.
